2022 – Don’t despair – just repair!
Die Europäische Woche der Abfallvermeidung fand dieses Jahr vom 19. bis 27. November 2022 statt. Unter dem Motto „Zirkulare und nachhaltige Textilien“ waren Menschen und Organisationen dazu aufgerufen, sich durch kleine und große Aktionen dem Fast Fashion Trend entgegenzustellen und zur Müllvermeidung im Bereich Textilien beizutragen. Der Bremer Jugendring e.V., NaturKultur e.V. und die Klimazone Bremen-Findorff haben das zum Anlass genommen, am 25. November in einem „Nähcafé Spezial“ die Basics zum Klamotten-Reparieren zu vermitteln.
Bei der Veranstaltung „Don’t despair – just repair“ konnten die Teilnehmer*innen lernen mit Nadel und Faden einen Knopf anzunähen oder einen Hosensaum zu kürzen. Aber auch das Arbeiten mit der Nähmaschine ist nicht zu kurz gekommen. Hier wurde mit viel Geschick aus Stoffresten etwas neues gemacht. Die Teilnehmer*innen konnten sich nach Lust und Laune ausprobieren und auch mitgebrachte eigene Klamotten wieder heil machen!
Die Europäische Woche der Abfallvermeidung wurde 2009 von der Europäischen Kommission ins Leben gerufen und findet seitdem einmal im Jahr als europaweite Aktionswoche statt.

The European week for waste reduction took place from 19th till 27th of November 2022. Under the slogan „circular and sustainable textiles“ people and organizations were called upon to stand against the fast fashion trend with small and large activities and to contribute to avoiding waste in the textile industry. The Bremer Jugendring e.V., NaturKultur e.V. and the Klimazone Bremen Findorff took this as an opportunity to teach the basics of repairing clothes in a „Nähcafé Spezial“ on November 25th.
During the event „Don’t despair – just repair“, participants had a chance to learn how to sew a button or shorten the trousers with a needle and a thread. But working with the sewing machine has not been neglected either. With a lot of skill something new was made out of fabric scraps. The participants were able to try new things out and even repair their own clothes they had brought with them!
The European Week for Waste Reduction was launched in 2009 by the European Commission and since then has taken place once a year as an European action week.
